I had a hard time deciding which Wheely Bug to buy. The large size? The small size? I ended up at a hign end baby boutique letting my 18 month old ride around on their over priced Wheely Bugs. The small was really, really small! I think a child that can actually fit on the small one probably shouldn’t be scooting around the house. I chose the large size lady bug and it is just a little too big. I know that the small would have been good only for a few more months. All of the reviews I read said, “Buy the bigger one.” So I did. I know my daughter (18 months old) will grow into it soon. Her feet touch the ground but,she doesn’t have the motor skills to get it really going yet. It sounds like a great resource for collectors. And I miss my Flexible Flyer (40+ yrs). If they’re so great (and they were), why wouldn’t they (the new owners) continue making them? They are is still demand. They were and are tremendously superior to the cheap (and expensive) plastic garbage (i.e. sleds) that are now available. The plastic “sleds” slide all over the place and offer little or no control (steering) on hard pack surfaces. Are these in the book? I hope not.

Customer Review: Not Preachy, Not Technical, Just a Good Earthy Story
This book introduced me to Barbara Kingsolver. I liked her writing style so much I went on to read many of her other writings which I also enjoyed.

This book is the story of her family’s journey from a rather typical American lifestyle to something far more fulfilling, rewarding, interesting and sustainable. I feared it might be a bit preachy, but I didn’t find it to be at all. I found it to be earthy, hearty, informative but not technical, funny (I laughed out loud on several occasions) and yet it had an air of class and charm all at once. It is definitely a “green” book with an underlying sense of urgency, but it was refreshingly subtle compared to similar books I’ve read. Rather than being filled with “You must all do ___ or the world is going to end!” it was more about “We decided to do ___ for ourselves as a family. It makes sense to us, it feels right and it works very well.”

Sometimes I felt like I was on the farm with her, learning for the first time how to coax my own food from the earth and changing at a fundamental level how I contribute my energy, my money, my life to this country I love so much. She seems always to contemplate how her decisions will affect the world around her and act accordingly, and has created a beautiful and bountiful life around that. Go Barbara. I admire you and the life you’ve created.

Customer Review: Inspiring! I can’t move to a farm, but I can support my local farmers.
Barbara Kingsolver and her family relocated to a homestead in southern Appalachia and resolved to spend a year eating home-grown or locally produced food. What they didn’t raise or grow themselves, they bought from local farms.

Kingsolver demonstrates the benefits of sustainable agriculture without coming across as preachy or overly judgemental. I loved the way, with humor and grace, she shows how anyone can add a little local flavor into their diets.

My mom is an avid gardener and a great cook, but I, unfortunately, inherited neither the talent nor the interest to follow in her muddy footsteps. Kingsolver’s wonderful narrative has inspired me to, at the very least, support my local farmer’s market. Perhaps, I might even attempt a small kitchen garden this year.

What a gorgeous little doll! Her hair coloring and facial paint are a step above normal “playline” Kelly dolls, as are the details in her costume (hey, she’s even wearing little panties!). And that benign, nonthreatening accompanying wolf, with those little granny glasses–cracks me up every time I look at it! Too bad Mattel saw fit to abbreviate the fairy tale as told on the back of the box, but I guess there was only so much room. Highly recommended.

I use three Sarecrows to protect my garden. One morning I forgot to turn off the water. The blast from one of the “crows’ caused me to drop everything i was carrying and scamper out of the garden. it startled the tar out of me!

I love breyer I had just started colleting breyer and this looked like a great saddle set to help me start when I got home Hi, I tried it on my breyer when I was putting it on the bridle snaped by the ears a few days later the anther part of the bridle snapped and the surups stretched. I also found out that the sturups dangled so far off the horse that my rider can’t put her feet in to them. I also found out that the helmet did not fit on my breyer rider’s head! If you are thinking about buying breyer tack you are better off buying the hunter/jumper bridle and saddle.

Customer Review: Does the job
Have used the inverter on a couple 2-hour trips. Ran a Dell laptop and video game chargers off it the whole time with no problems. Only possible issue is a whine introduced into the car stereo (aux input) from a laptop running off the inverter. In other words, I was running the laptop off the inverter and plugged the laptop’s headphone output into the car stereo’s auxiliary input and there was a noticeable whine coming out of the speakers. It didn’t affect the operation of the stereo, laptop or inverter, and the inverter still works fine. The only other note is that running the inverter with the car engine off causes the inverter fan to run at full speed, which is rather loud. The inverter fan does not normally come on when the car engine is running.

For under $30, you can’t beat this little unit for powering laptops, small DVD players, and children’s games. They could have put the power outlets further apart. That’s our only gripe. Great little unit. Well made.

Aladdin
Disney’s 1992 animated feature is a triumph of wit and skill. The high-tech artwork and graphics look great, the characters are strong, the familiar story is nicely augmented with an interesting villain (Jafar, voiced by Jonathan Freeman), and there’s an incredible hook atop the whole thing: Robin Williams’s frantically hilarious vocal performance as Aladdin’s genie. Even if one isn’t particularly moved by the love story between the title character (Scott Weinger) and his girlfriend Jasmine (Linda Larkin), you can easily get lost in Williams’s improvisational energy and the equally entertaining performances of Freeman and Gilbert Gottfried (as Jafar’s parrot). –Tom Keogh

Aladdin is definately one of the best Disney movies. However, all of these added “special features” that drive up the cost of the DVD and dub it “platinum” are completely unnecessary. Disney has a bad habbit of adding useless garbage to their DVDs. Unfortunately, Aladdin is not available on DVD without all of the nonsense.

I would still recommend this movie to anyone young or old for a good laugh and to see Disney’s usual ability to transform an old tale into a “magical” story for all to enjoy.

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas
For those who never thought Disney would release a film in which Santa Claus is kidnapped and tortured, well, here it is! The full title is Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, which should give you an idea of the tone of this stop-action animated musical/fantasy/horror/comedy. It is based on characters created by Burton, the former Disney animator best known as the director of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and the first two Batman movies. His benignly scary-funny sensibility dominates the story of Halloweentown resident Jack Skellington (voice by Danny Elfman, who also wrote the songs), who stumbles on a bizarre and fascinating alternative universe called … Christmastown! Directed by Henry Selick (who later made the delightful James and the Giant Peach), this PG-rated picture has a reassuringly light touch. As Roger Ebert noted in his review, “some of the Halloween creatures might be a tad scary for smaller children, but this is the kind of movie older kids will eat up; it has the kind of offbeat, subversive energy that tells them wonderful things are likely to happen.” –Jim Emerson

Customer Review: A TIMELESS CLASSIC
Every so often a movie comes around that from the first time you see it, it grabs you and you instantly know it’s going to be a classic. ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ is absolutly one of those movies!!!

T.N.B.C. is a 1993 stop-motion, animated musical created and written by Tim Burton, directed by Henry Selick, and scored by Danny Elfman.

Our story starts off with a very memorable musical introduction to ‘Halloween Town’, one of the many ‘holiday worlds’. We are then introduced to Jack Skellington, the ruler of Halloween town and said to be the scariest being in the world. Then we meet Sally, a Frankenstein-type of rag-doll who seems to have a crush of sorts on Jack. After Halloween festivities, Jack grows bored of his day-to-day life. As he is wandering in the forest one day, he comes to a group of trees that have very unique markings. As jack is inspecting one, he accidently falls in, and finds himself in ‘Christmas Land’. Jack is amazed at what he sees, and immediatly begins a plan to combine the holidays…Unfortunatly to a near disasterous consequence.

T.N.B.C. was inspired by shorts like ‘Rudolph’ and ‘The Grinch’ with a Halloween twist, and Burton put the skeleton(no pun intended)of the story together while working as an animator for Disney. The movie had a very difficult production. It took over 3-years to complete, and needed many different scale-models of characters and the town itself. This was the first time that a feature production has this much stop-motion.

The acting is relative. Being a stop-motion animated movie, the acting is done vocally. Chris Sarandon, Danny Elfman, Cathrine O’Hara, Glen Shadix, and Ken Page give great peformances.

Danny Elfman wrote the score to the film and was nominated for a 1993 Golden Globe. The film’s music is very ‘emotive’ and an instant classic. Right from the first note of ‘This is Halloween’, the music compliments the story perfectly. ‘This is Halloween’ has alot of identity to it, and works as an introduction and a ‘hook’ to keep you watching; It is VERY sucsessfull.

The editing is perfect. The movie is 76 min. and moves at a good pace, and the musicals never go on to long(although it wouldn’t be a problem because the score is great).

T.N.B.C. is just one of those movies that instantly shines and becomes unforgetable. From the first I saw it, I new people would still be watching it and talking about it years after the release. When the movie was first released, The execs. at Disney were concerned that the film might be to ‘dark’ for young children(given that ‘Oogie Boogie’ kidnaps and tortures Santa)but the movie doesn’t ‘push the envelope’ far enough to cause concern. I bought this for my niece’s 2nd birthday, and she watched it 3 times as soon as I gave it to her; this movie is perfect for introducing your children to scary movies!!!

This is a timeless classic and a must have for children and adults alike(almost like ‘A Christmas Story’)!

My Amazon Bro Mike Lidell has informed me that this will be re-released with additional bonus features in August!! My biggest question is how can a movie like this go out-of-print??
