Alice in Wonderland
Imaginatively rendered but slightly chilly, this 1951 Disney adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic is also appropriately surreal. Alice (voiced by Kathryn Beaumont) has all the anticipated experiences: shrinking and growing, meeting the White Rabbit, having tea with the Mad Hatter, etc. Characterization is very strong, and the Disney team worked hard to bring screen personality to Carroll’s eccentric creations. For a Disney film, however, it seems more the self-satisfied sum of its inventiveness than a truly engaging experience. –Tom Keogh

Alice in Wonderland is renowned for it’s odd and satirical nature, while still appealing to kids who are highly entertained by the disappearing Cheshire cat, the wackiness of the Mad Hatter, and the wrath of the Queen of Hearts. The songs are cute and Disney-esque, and Alice’s adventures inspire all of the many imaginative people out in the world.

Customer Review: Not Preachy, Not Technical, Just a Good Earthy Story
This book introduced me to Barbara Kingsolver. I liked her writing style so much I went on to read many of her other writings which I also enjoyed.

This book is the story of her family’s journey from a rather typical American lifestyle to something far more fulfilling, rewarding, interesting and sustainable. I feared it might be a bit preachy, but I didn’t find it to be at all. I found it to be earthy, hearty, informative but not technical, funny (I laughed out loud on several occasions) and yet it had an air of class and charm all at once. It is definitely a “green” book with an underlying sense of urgency, but it was refreshingly subtle compared to similar books I’ve read. Rather than being filled with “You must all do ___ or the world is going to end!” it was more about “We decided to do ___ for ourselves as a family. It makes sense to us, it feels right and it works very well.”

Sometimes I felt like I was on the farm with her, learning for the first time how to coax my own food from the earth and changing at a fundamental level how I contribute my energy, my money, my life to this country I love so much. She seems always to contemplate how her decisions will affect the world around her and act accordingly, and has created a beautiful and bountiful life around that. Go Barbara. I admire you and the life you’ve created.

Customer Review: Inspiring! I can’t move to a farm, but I can support my local farmers.
Barbara Kingsolver and her family relocated to a homestead in southern Appalachia and resolved to spend a year eating home-grown or locally produced food. What they didn’t raise or grow themselves, they bought from local farms.

Kingsolver demonstrates the benefits of sustainable agriculture without coming across as preachy or overly judgemental. I loved the way, with humor and grace, she shows how anyone can add a little local flavor into their diets.

My mom is an avid gardener and a great cook, but I, unfortunately, inherited neither the talent nor the interest to follow in her muddy footsteps. Kingsolver’s wonderful narrative has inspired me to, at the very least, support my local farmer’s market. Perhaps, I might even attempt a small kitchen garden this year.

Took it to scout camp last week and was able to get enough coals for two 12″ ovens going in about 15 minutes. The coals up to the top of the side vent holes are ready in 10 minutes, the ones above the holes take a few minutes longer. Excellent value for the price.

1. The openings in the vertical grating at the bottom are too narrow to permit insertion of any butane grill lighter I have been able to buy. I have to lift up the canister in order to light the paper in the bottom.

2. After fiddling with newspaper trying to find right amount to use, I have found that using 1/2 of a paper grocery shopping bag (just cut it right up the middle with scissors) is perfect for lighting the chimney without fail.

I bought this bike trailer so I could take my children with me when I went biking. My daughters are 5 and 3. My 3 year old fits just fine but my 5 year old is pretty cramped! If you have a really young child or children, this will work great for you but if they are 4 years or older, you may want to consider another product. It works GREAT! but it is made for children about 3 years and under.

Customer Review: My Favorite Book
Jane Austen’s classic, Pride and Prejudice, is perhaps my favorite book of all time. Miss Austen’s trademark wit and whimsy style of writing is appealing to readers of all ages, even to a modern teen like me. I find something, many things, to relate to within the main character, Elizabeth Bennet, as I, like she, “[takes] delight in anything ridiculous.” Since the moment I read that infamous line: “It is a truth universally acknowledged……” I have considered myself to be a firm and loyal Janeite, joining the ranks of thousands of hopeless romantics and head-strong women whom only hope to one day find their Mr. Darcy. Between the playfulness of Miss Bennet and the comically formalness of Mr. Darcy lies a classic lesson to be learned. Originally, Jane Austen thought to name this tale “First Impressions”, as the moral of the story lies within the importance of not relying on just that. Lizzie Bennet’s fatal — or perhaps only — flaw is her characteristic quickness to judgement, which nearly cost her the love of her life. Although by the end of the story one is almost always in love with Darcy, his personality at the beginning of the story is purposefully icy and rigid, depicting him as the perfect example of an excess of pride. By the end of the tale, however, Darcy stands proud as perhaps the most romantic hero of all time. Prepare to be “bewitched body and soul” by the whit and wisdom and Miss Austen, perhaps the most perfect romantic author of all time. In addition, plan to be enchanted by the playfulness of Lizzie, charmed by the misadventure of Darcy, rendered speechless by the nerve and lack of tact within the Mrs. Bennet, charmed by the sweetness of Jane and Bingley, enraged by both Miss Bingley and Lady Catherine, and most of all, infuriated by the ridiculousness and insufferability of Lydia and Kitty. There is always something to take from a story so perfect and so classic as this. I make it a point to return to it’s familar story at least once a month. This beautifully penned tale only stands to prove that Love, more often than not, will be not so easily defeated.

I loved this book and Jane Austen’s style, but this is not a literary review — this review is on the Everyman’s Library Edition. This printing is wonderful and I absolutely love the everyman’s library books. If the book wasn’t spotless, I would almost think it was an antique edition. The cover is lovely, the binding is solid, the paper is thick and matte, and the font is legible. This book is to be read, loved and proudly shelved for display. Don’t waste your money on some tiny, stiff, mass-market paperback. EVERYMAN’S LIBRARY EDITION — TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!

Customer Review: This is unit actually “pumps” the power
I found this unit does what it’s made for, but I had 2 surprises. 1st, this unit “pumps” power from the “source” car into the “dead” car. I assumed that this would let the power thru from the source (which is at a higher voltage) to the dead one & slow/stop the flow of power if the voltages equalized, but it doesn’t. It continues to draw on the source to feed power into the dead one (even if it makes the source drop to under 12V while the dead one gets raised to 13+V). If you have this unit connected between cars without the engine running on the source car, it can drain that battery & continue to charge the “dead” car. That could get someone in trouble if they left it plugged in, so be sure to pull the plug if you’re not running the source car. 2nd, when I saw this in a store it said “Rated at 5 amps” on the package label, but once I opened it I saw on the manual enclosed “Rated at 10 amps”. I tested it & the unit actually draws closer to 10, so the package label seems incorrect. Otherwise I think of this as a 10 Amp battery charger that plugs into another car (instead of your house). It can’t pass enough power to instantly crank your engine, it just charges a good battery and the battery must still be able to do its job. I’ve also heard, “Expect a battery to take as long to recharge as it did to discharge IE: if you drain it fast while cranking an engine it’ll recharge fast, if you drain it slow from leaving lights on it’ll take a long time to recharge”. Also remember that for this to transfer power thru the lighter socket into the car with the drained battery, you want to have the key switch in “Accessories” position in the dead car. That’s because you want the lighter socket to be “on” (connected to the battery so the power gets thru), but you don’t want the cars engine circuits to be on until trying to start it (since they would be draining much of the ~10 amp charge power coming thru if you left the key in the “on” position).

Customer Review: Bought 2 - love ‘em!
First, these are great. They have five narrow spaces in the front and four wider spaces in the back of each drawer. They pull out and lever down conveniently. They fit nicely on our cabinet shelf and really helped to make our spices usable and tidy.

Now for the things that you should be aware of before purchase:

1) The plastic is not flimsy, but it is not sturdy either. The structure wobbles a bit when you use it — so I pull out the drawers with care. I love this thing and don’t want it to break!

2) The spaces are sized to fit your traditional round spice containers (tiny half sizes, full size, and larger sizes in the back), but they do not fit the extra large sizes that you can sometimes get in the grocery. These I put on another shelf. We have a few fancy new square glass bottles and rectangular spice tins that are roughly equivalent in size to the traditional containters. So that you know, these fit in the drawers, but they obviously don’t fit the round shape.

3) In the description, I recalled that it said that the shelves could be labeled. No labels are provided. There is space for this, but you will have to cover a colorful, oddly shaped sticker that displays the product name on each shelf. I suspect that our organization scheme may change from time to time as our spice selection changes, and that labeling over the product name sticker will look hokey, so I am letting the label idea go.

Overall, this product was a bit more expensive than I would have wanted to pay for an organizer, but it works quite well.

strongly recomended buy because it includes a free adapter and let me tell you when i goto the retail photo shops like walgreens or walmart and ect.. some of those places are not usefull unless you have an adapter for the memory stick. i would say buy this because take a look at the sites of most electronics stores for this memory stick size and the adapter. and i can tell you that this is the cheapest way to get what you want and the delivery is faster then what is stated on the site. my product came in four days and it was amazing. so i would say buy this and you will not be disappointed. This is really not a laundry cart, It looks like a toy cart for kids. In the picture it looks like a real laundry cart But its not. Wheels does not turn and very small. I could not understand why people gave this good reviews, may be they have not seen good carts. I got this one but returned it. Shipping charges $9 you have to pay. I had a cart before I used it for almost 4 years that is also availble on amazaon for $39 or so.Or you will get what you pay for..

The back axle sheared off the first time we ussed it (around 50 lbs). We modified the back axle with a heavier rod and it worked just fine. Also - the name on the cart is the “Winnie Wagon” which we immediately covered. Other than that it is a good product for a reasonable price.

I use three Sarecrows to protect my garden. One morning I forgot to turn off the water. The blast from one of the “crows’ caused me to drop everything i was carrying and scamper out of the garden. it startled the tar out of me!

Only negative so far is battery life is about 1 month. I am now trying rechargeable batteries.

Customer Review: Two Good Valentine Favorites
I think “Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown” was fine. The only sad things were when Charlie Brown didn’t get any valentines until a day later, and when Linus missed giving valentine treats to his teacher. I would have felt the same way as Violet when Charlie Brown wasn’t getting valentines. I would say Charlie Brown should have gotten as many valentines as the others. Everybody is too mean to him! “A Charlie Brown Valentine” was swell because it wasn’t as sad. On this one, Charlie Brown seems to go after the little red haired girl through most of it. He wanted to dance with her, but couldn’t. What sounded odd to me was that Peppermint Patty sent him a valentine this time. It would only sound like her if she really loved Charlie Brown.

If you are a fan of sword and sorcery/samurai films — or better yet, if you’ve never experienced the genre — this is the one for you. All of the baby Cart films are mind blowing, but this installment has it all. I won’t go into any details — just sit back, and watch the blood hoses fly!
Customer Review: to die for a dye
I can’t believe that I’ve been a fan of Asian cinema for so long and am now just seeing this series. I saw the first one only a few weeks ago and it blew me away. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. I tend to prefer kung fu, but I’ve seen a lot of samurai films in my day. A couple of Zatoichi flicks, a few Kurosawa flicks, that Tom Cruise one, etc. None of them prepared me for Lone Wolf & Cub. The second film has Ogami Itto and his toddler son Daigoro traveling to assassinate a man who plans to sell a dye process to the Shogunate and put a province in poverty as a result. The man is escorted by 3 BAD dudes. There is also a group of female ninjas after Itto who were hired by the Yagyu clan, who betrayed him in the first film. I would have to say that I liked the first film a little better, but there ain’t nothing wrong with this movie. Those who thought the first movie portrayed females as weak and helpless will be silenced by the ladies in this one. The picture is not quite as good as the beauty of the first, but the complaint is minor. Like the first one it is extremely violent and highly recommended.
